FALL BALL

Wilton Fall Baseball Results- 5th-7th Grade Division.

On a warm and beautiful Saturday morning, the Wilton A’s defeated the Wilton Phillies 11-5. The game started out as a pitching duel between the A’s starter Andre Gaudio and Gavin Lowne of the Phillies but, by the 3rd inning, the A’s had tied the score and started to pull away scoring 9 runs over the final 3 innings. The A’s pitching staff was solid as Adam Daversa pitched 2+ innings of middle relief and Michael Fischetti closed the door on the win with 2 perfect innings, striking out 5 of 6 batters. The A’s hitting attack was led by Fischetti with 3 hits, including a Home Run. Also contributing offensively for the A’s was Daversa w/2 hits and 2 runs scored, Jackson Carbonier scored 3 runs and both Griffin Palmer and Drew Lane scored 2 runs apiece.  The A’s also turned in a solid defensive effort with plays being made by Quentin Case and Aaron Schwartz.

New Bat Regulations from Little League

The Little League International Organization is changing the baseball bat standards to bats that have more "wood-like" performance.  Here are the important points:

  • The new standard goes into effect on January 1, 2018.
  • Any currently approved bat will no longer be allowed starting January 1.
  • Bats meeting the new standard must have the USA Baseball marking
  • These new bats are currently available for purchase at sporting goods stores

For more information, visit the Little League website here:  http://www.littleleague.org/learn/equipment/baseballbatinfo.htm

IMPORTANT:  If you plan on buying a new bat, it must have the USA Baseball marking or else it will not be allowed next year.
